Danny Gilliam is a 20 year old who moved to present day New York City from a small town in Connecticut for college. He lives with his three roomates Greg, Matt, and Tim in a small two bedroom apt in the Bronx. Danny not only goes to college, but holds a full-time job. Being a dork in high school Danny tries to change and starts doing and selling marijuana, as well as binge drinking every night. Being a good looking guy and now having that dangerous appeal of a drug dealer, he quickly starts adding notches to his belt in the women department, which contributes to the continuing and worsening of this lifestlye. He gets seriously involved with one woman, Drea, who has a similar alcohol problem, but also a severe cocaine addiction. In turn, Danny picks up the habit and adds cocaine to his problems, cutting out marijuana. His daily use of cocaine and alcohol cost him about 500 dollars a week. In order to continue to afford his habit he starts selling cocaine. The relationship is rocky to say the least. They emotionally and physically abuse eachother more than they get along. Not after long the realtionship breaks off, but he keeps the habitual use of cocaine. It's not long before he meets another girl who seems to be practically the same person as Drea, her name being Tara. About two months go by before Danny is fired from his job for frequently missing work. To adjust for the loss of money Danny starts selling more drugs adding heroine and mushrooms. He only holds off for a few weeks before he starts to dip into his new business and starts doing all the drugs he is selling. With the start of his almost daily use of mushrooms and acid, he starts to have continuous nightmares about his death, happening on July 27 or 727. From the first night he had this nightmare he has been seeing the numbers 727 everywhere, from car license plates to hotel room numbers, from costs of meals to new dates phone numbers. He then starts to believe he really is going to die. At this point he drops out of college, still somehow achieving straight As, but with a new attitude about his doomed life. July 27 2006 comes and goes, but Danny doesn't die. With a last ditch effort to save his life he tries to stop doing drugs. He locks himself in his room and instructs his pothead roomates to not let him out except to eat and use the bathroom. He then sleeps 18 hour days to avoid the addiction fits. Two weeks go by and he feels realtively free from the grasp drugs had on him. He continues to smoke marijuana as a substitute, it being the least obstructive. He cleans himself up and gets a new job. New Years Eve comes around and he blows a line. The dreams of his death start reoccurring again every night. This time 727 isn't enough to stop him from doing drugs and starts a bigger downward spiral of questionable insanity. He starts using on a once a moth basis, quickly turning into once a week and then daily use of cocaine. Once again he gets involved with Drea who is no longer on birth control. On April 5th Drea calls Danny to tell him that he got her pregnant and that she is keeping the child. Danny responds with surprise, but feels good about the idea of being a father. Once again he tries to clean up his life. On July 26th 2007, at about 10 til midnight, Danny gets a call from Drea's mother. She is at the hospital. "Danny, Drea lost the baby" He hangs up the phone and immediately turns to the drugs for relief. He mixes cocaine and heroine and acid at amounts he has never used before. If the fall didn't kill him the overdose would have. Danny jumped off his 30 story apartment building at July 27 2007 at about 7:27 am. |
